Otter Fencing has been operational since the early 1950s, with Jack Otter incorporating the business in February 1959.
A Fencing sub-contractor by trade, Jack was engaged in the early years on the Housing Commission estates throughout Victoria, installing both timber and chain-link fences.
Jack and his son Ray Otter were involved in the creation of the original Australian Standards for Chain-link Fencing; AS1725 in the mid 1970’s, with Ray, current Chairman of the Standards committee for the ACLFA, having been heavily involved in the upgrade of AS1725 in 2003 and more recently with the inclusion of Sports fencing into AS1725-2010.
During this time Otter Fencing has grown to become a leading manufacturer, supplier and installer of fencing and gates to suit a wide variety of applications, specialising in; Chain-Link Fabric, Tubular Panel and Welded Mesh and has built its reputation on quality, combined with unsurpassed reliability.
Otter Fencing is now in its third generation with Glenn Otter, Jack’s grandson the General Manager of the business, along with Managing Director Graham Braithwaite who joined the Otter team in 2016.
