It is with pleasure that I inform you all, yesterday marked the 60th year anniversary for Ray Otter’s commencement date as an employee with Otter Fencing.
Ray started with the business in 1964, leaving his trade as a qualified Plumber to assist his father Jack Otter, who had incorporated Otter Fencing only 5 years before in 1959.
Ray is well known and respected throughout the Fencing industry and what Ray doesn’t know about fencing and gates is probably not worth knowing!
Some of you may be aware that both Ray and his father Jack Otter were instrumental in the creation of the first ever Australian Standards for Chain-link Fabric Fencing and Gates (AS1725-1975) way back in 1975, which took 3 years to complete.
More recently, Ray was the Chairman of the Australian Standards committee that produced the updated Australian Standards for Chain-link Fabric Fencing and gates in 2003 and again in 2010.
We plan to formally celebrate Ray’s milestone in the very near future, but in the meantime pls join me in congratulating Ray on his tenure and contribution to Otter Fencing over 6 decades.
Although Ray is somewhat slowing down a little, he is still the first person that arrives at the office/factory in the morning around 4.30am, yes 4.30am and often the last to leave of an evening. You’ll even find Ray in his office on Saturdays after golf and again on Sundays.
Ray’s dedication to the business and his work ethic is unprecedented, with no signs of retirement.
Congratulations Ray and well done on an amazing achievement!!!
