Happy 85th Birthday, Ray Otter!

Happy 85th Birthday, Ray Otter!

Today we celebrate an incredible milestone as Ray Otter turns 85 years young. Born on Monday, 28 July 1941, Ray's life has been defined by hard work, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to the Australian Fencing industry.

Ray joined the family business in 1964, leaving his trade as a qualified Plumber to work alongside his father, Jack Otter, who had incorporated Otter Fencing just five years earlier in 1959. More than six decades later, Ray remains at the heart of the business.

Well respected throughout the Fencing industry, Ray's knowledge is second to none. As many would say, what Ray doesn't know about fencing and gates probably isn't worth knowing!

One of Ray's greatest contributions came alongside his father, Jack, when they played a pivotal role in developing Australia's first Chain-link Fabric Fencing and Gates Standard (AS1725-1975). This landmark standard took three years to develop and continues to influence the industry today.

While Ray might admit to slowing down just a little, you certainly wouldn't know it. He is still the first person to arrive at the office and factory each morning often by 4:30am and is regularly the last to leave. Even after a round of golf on Saturdays, you'll often find him back in the office, and Sundays are no exception.

Ray's dedication, work ethic, and passion for Otter Fencing are truly unmatched. His commitment has helped shape the company into what it is today, and remarkably, there are still no signs of retirement.

From everyone at Otter Fencing, we wish Ray a very happy 85th birthday. Thank you for your lifelong dedication, leadership, and the lasting legacy you continue to build every single day.

Happy Birthday, Ray, and congratulations on an extraordinary milestone!
