Fittings

Fence & Gate Fittings Resource Guide

This guide outlines the types of fittings used in fencing and gate systems, including pipe connectors, hinges, brackets, and accessories. Understanding the right fittings for your post sizes, gate types, and site requirements ensures long-lasting, safe installations.

All fittings are generally supplied in a hot-dip galvanised finish. Select items may also be available in powder-coated finishes (e.g. black) for aesthetic matching.

All dimensions are provided in nominal bore (NB) unless otherwise stated. A conversion table from Nominal Bore (NB) to Outside Diameter (OD) is typically used to assist with pipe compatibility.

Common Fence & Gate Fittings

  • Post caps and domes (for square and round posts)
  • Gate hinges — adjustable, butt, and gudgeon types
  • Rail brackets and cradles
  • Collars and clamps (for mid-rails and stays)
  • Drop bolts, latch kits, and padlockable hardware
  • Chain and cable anchors

Fitting Size Reference Table

Use the table below to determine the correct fitting size based on the Nominal Bore (NB) or Outside Diameter (OD) of your fence or gate pipe. This ensures a snug fit and correct alignment of components.

Note: Always confirm OD measurements before ordering — pipe wall thickness may affect fitting compatibility.

  • Installation Notes & Tips

    • Use anti-seize on adjustable or threaded fittings in coastal or exposed environments
    • Ensure gate hinges are properly spaced and aligned to prevent sagging over time
    • Welded fittings offer additional security but reduce post reusability
    • Spring latches and buffer stops are recommended for gates with frequent pedestrian use
    • Paint or powder coat visible fittings to match fence colour and reduce visual clutter
  • Optional Accessories & Tools

    • Rattle-proof collars for rail sections
    • Security shear nuts or tamper-proof fasteners
    • Gate stop brackets and restrainers
    • Grease points for gate hinges with high usage

Service Guidance

This guide provides a reference for common fittings used across chain-link, tubular, welded mesh, and gate automation systems. For uncommon sizes or non-standard applications, fittings may be fabricated or adapted using welding or bush sleeves.
