Otter Fencing was proud to work closely with Smart Grass to deliver a custom designed sports fencing solution for the Blackburn & Forest Hill Baseball Clubs. The project involved the installation of new side by side twin baseball batting cages located in Vermont South at Billabong Park. Designed to provide a safe and functional training environment, this project required extensive structural planning due to the challenging site conditions. With the batting cages positioned partway down a steep hillside, our team engineered and installed a robust steel framework capable of supporting the entire structure and withstanding both the terrain and the demands of a high-use sporting facility.
To ensure exceptional strength and longevity, the majority of the structure was built using twin truss posts, providing the additional support required for the sloping landscape. The batting cages were enclosed using premium heavy-duty Black Fusion Bonded Chain-link fabric, offering enhanced durability and resistance to impact damage and wear, compared to traditional PVC coated chain-link fabric.
This project stands out as one of our favourite installations due to its complexity and unique engineering requirements. Successfully constructing a large-scale training facility on a steep incline required careful planning, precision fabrication, and expert installation. The finished result is not only aesthetically appealing, it forms a functional and, long-lasting training facility that will support and develop the Blackburn & Forest Hill Baseball Clubs for many years to come.
