Like Marvel Stadium across the water, Otter Fencing is now part of the iconic Victoria Harbour skyline.
Otter Fencing has supplied and installed 728 metres of 1500mm high black tubular steel fencing along Victoria Harbour Promenade in Docklands, creating a substantial new safety barrier through one of Melbourne's most recognisable waterfront precincts. The project also included matching double gates, single gates and overhang panels throughout the site.
The works were required in response to changing safety conditions along the harbour, with a semi-permanent fencing solution needed to maintain public safety ahead of the planned redevelopment of the wharf.
Working through a busy public waterfront presented its own challenges. The fencing runs across a mix of timber decking, concrete paving and masonry, requiring different fixing methods and post arrangements to suit each surface. The fenceline uses 50mm SHS posts with baseplates, with 75mm SHS posts used where required against masonry walls.
With its exposed waterfront location, the installation also faces a demanding marine environment. The fencing is finished in satin black powder coat, giving a clean architectural look that complements the surrounding Docklands development while creating a strong physical separation between public areas and the harbour edge.
The scale of the project required careful staging, traffic management and coordination around the active promenade. The original temporary fencing was progressively removed as the new system went in, maintaining site security throughout.
The finished result stretches along the waterfront with Marvel Stadium, Victoria Harbour and the Melbourne skyline as its backdrop: a simple, durable fencing solution designed to sit comfortably within one of the city's most prominent public spaces.
From major public infrastructure and waterfront developments to sporting facilities, schools and commercial sites, Otter Fencing manufactures and installs steel fencing built for demanding Australian environments.
When quality matters, it's got to be Otter.
