Round Steel Crimped and Cranked Post Right-Angle Corner Galvanised
Understanding NB vs OD pipe measurements
When measuring steel pipe, it's important to understand the difference between Nominal Bore (NB) and Outside Diameter (OD), measured in millimetres (mm).
NB (Nominal Bore): A standardised pipe size identification. It does not represent the pipe's exact inside diameter, as the actual internal diameter may be slightly larger or smaller depending on the pipe's wall thickness and manufacturing standard.
OD (Outside Diameter): The actual measurement across the outside of the pipe, measured in millimetres, and remains consistent across all wall thicknesses of the same NB size pipe.
| Nominal Bore (NB) | Outside Diameter (OD) |
|---|---|
| 20 mm | 26.9 mm |
| 25 mm | 33.7 mm |
| 32 mm | 42.4 mm |
| 40 mm | 48.3 mm |
| 50 mm | 60.3 mm |
| 65 mm | 76.1 mm |
| 80 mm | 88.9 mm |
| 90 mm | 101.6 mm |
| 100 mm | 114.3 mm |
| 150 mm | 165.1 mm |

Heavy-duty crimped and cranked chain-link fence post for 3 strands of barbed wire. Made from commercial galvanised steel, for high-security fencing.
When to use it
Use this post on a corner where the fence turns at about 90°. For any other corner angle, wide or tight, use the splayed corner post. Along a straight run, use the inline post.
Which post do I need?
- Inline post: posts along a straight run, including the end posts. Arm bent 45° from vertical, 500mm long, wire every 150mm.
- Right-angle corner post (this post): a corner where the fence turns at about 90°. Arm bent 55° from vertical, 620mm long, wire every 190mm.
- Splayed corner post: any other corner, wider or tighter than 90°. Arm bent 50° from vertical, 560mm long, wire every 170mm.
What the angles mean
The angle is how far the cranked arm leans out from upright, measured from vertical. Corner posts lean a little further and have a longer arm with wider hole spacings, so their 3 strands of barbed wire sit at the same heights as on the inline posts and the wire runs level around the corner.
The corner angle is the turn the fence makes: a right-angle corner turns about 90°, a splayed corner covers every other turn, wide or tight.
